Julio Jones was traded from the Atlanta Falcons to the Tennessee Titans on Sunday. Tennessee sent a 2022 second-round pick and a 2023 fourth-round pick, Atlanta sent Julio Jones and a 2023 sixth-round pick to the Titans. The will not be official for few days as Jones will have to take a physical.
Just moments after the trade, Titans General Manager told reporters, ” Julio is excited to be a part of what we have going on in Nashville. There are still some things that we need to work on from a salary cap standpoint to fit within the parameters that the NFL has for all 32 teams.” Robinson also talked about how they would have to re-structure some contracts.
This trade was a win for both teams. The Titans made up for some pass-catching they lost after Corey Davis signed with the Jets and Jonnu Smith signed with the Patriots in the offseason. The Falcons save $15.3M in cap space with the post-June 1st trade of Julio Jones. Atlanta will have a dead cap hit of $7.75M this year. But this trade allows them to sign all of their draft picks.
