Jalen Duren reclassifies and commits to the Memphis Tigers

Penny Hardaway and the Memphis coaching staff received good news as Jalen Duren announced he was committing to Memphis Friday night. Jalen Duren is a 6-foot-10, 230-pound center that plays for Montverde Academy. According to 247sports, Duren was initially ranked as the No.1 recruit in the class of 2022 before reclassifying on Friday. Now Duren is ranked as the No,4 prospect in the class of 2021.

Duren’s commitment now ranks as the 2nd highest recruit to commit to Memphis since Penny Hardaway became head coach. The highest-ranked recruit that Penny has gotten since being hired is Golden State Warriors center James Wiseman.

Memphis 2021 recruiting class now ranks 5th in the nation and 1st in the AAC. The Memphis Tigers have never reached the NCAA tournament in Hardaway’s tenure as head coach, but with Duren coming to the with the addition of other recruits and transfers, The Memphis Tigers will be a team to watch out for in the 2021-2022 season
