Loser: Rookie quarterbacks
Most of the rookie quarterbacks that saw a lot of action on the field didn’t play too well, but every rookie quarterback that was picked in the first-round of the NFL draft lost in week 1. 1st overall pick Trevor Lawerence had an ugly week three performance throwing for 219 yards, 1 touchdown, and 2 interceptions. Those 2 interceptions gave Lawrence 7 total on the season. Lawernce so far has struggled to make good decisions on the field as Lawerence is now tied for the most interceptions thrown in the 2021-22 season. The quarterback tied with Lawerence for most interceptions thrown this season is Zach Wilson. Wilson played poorly against a good Denver defense, just throwing for 160 yards and 2 interceptions. Most people thought Mac jones is a quarterback was the most pro-ready QB in the draft; unfortunately, that is not how he looked in week 3 against the New Orleans Saints. Jones threw for 270 yards, 1 touchdown, and 3 interceptions.
Trey Lance and Justin fields are the two first-round quarterbacks that played during week 3. Lance didn’t get to show much as he only rushed for 3 yards and 1 touchdown. Lance did get a pass attempt, but it was incomplete. Justin fields finally got to start his first NFL game, but it didn’t go as expected. Fields threw for just 68 yards and rushed for 12 yards. People will say he played poorly, but it didn’t help that the Bears playcalling and offensive line were horrendous on Sunday. Fields was sacked a total of nine times.
Loser: Jimmy Garoppola
Jimmy Garoppola did not play bad on Sunday-he did well enough for the 49ers to beat the Green Bay Packers, but the 49ers still ended up losing. Jimmy G threw for 257 yards, 2 touchdowns, and 1 interception. Now that isn’t a bad stat line, but I say Garoppola is a loser this week because no matter how good he plays, if the 49ers lose, he will blame the loss.
Winner: Josh Allen
After putting up MVP numbers last season, Buffalo Bill fans expected Josh Allen to play well this season. However, through the first two weeks, Allen was far from his previous season self. Through the first two games of the season, Allen threw for 449 yards, 3 touchdowns, and 1 interception. However, in week three, Allen looked different, throwing for 358 yards and 4 touchdowns. Bill fans hope Allen can keep the momentum up for the next upcoming games.
Winner: Nick Westbrook-Ikhine
Nick Westbrook-Ikhine is a name that some NFL fans were not familiar with until Sunday. The main reason for that was due to him being Crammed down the Tennesse Titans roster. After injuries to A.J Brown and Josh Reynolds Made, Mike Vrabel give Westbrook-Ikhine some playing time. When Westbrook-Ikhine got the chance to play, he didn’t disappoint. Westbrook-Ikhine caught 4 passes for 53 yards and 1 touchdown. That one touchdown was the first of Westbrook-Ikhine’s NFL career. With A.J. Brown’s hamstring injury being week-to-week, Westbrook-Ikhine could make more of an impact in the coming weeks.
